ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION: Leela Roy Ghosh has done her M.A. in Social Antropology.
Her academic Qualifications also include Diplomas in Tourism & German & Japanese
languages, Research & Compilation on Folk Music/Folk stories for North London
Polytechnic - London, Pre-Doctoral studies on Kolis of Mumbai and Creative
Writing Course for Writers Bureau Manchester UK.
Leelaji has participated in a Film Appreciation Workshop conducted by FTII -
Pune and by NCPA. She has also taken part in a Computer workshop conducted by
CMC and Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
Leelaji is the author of several books and articles. Some of her works include
Introductory books on "Ganga", "Ajanta-Ellora", "Agra-Delhi", "Rajasthan",
"Festivals of India" for Colour Books Library, London. She has also assisted
leading Dailies and Journals for Publishing articles on India. Leelaji has also
written scripts for Biographical works.
EXPERIENCE IN CREATIVE FIELDS:
MUSIC:Leela Roy Ghosh has the honor of acquiring
classical vocal training from eminent personalities like Late Latafat Hussain
Khan, Pandit Ramnarayan, Pandit Murli Manohar Shukla, Late Bhubaneshwar Mishra
and Ustad Maqbool Hussain. She is also trained in Odissi style of singing. She
has released albums of Ghazals & Geet in regional languages for leading music
companies.
Leelaji has given playback for Hindi and regional language films.
She has produced Nursery Rhymes for Asian Children in U.K. Leelaji has performed
extensively in live shows all over England, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, France,
Portugal, U.S.A. and Canada. Many of her music shows have been telecast on BBC
Radio & Television, Voice of America, Asian Television, New York & Washington.
DANCE: Leelaji is trained in Odissi Classical dance from Guru Kelucharan
Mahapatra. She has performed and choreographed several dance ballets.
VOICING, DUBBING DIRECTION & SCRIPTING: Leela Roy Ghosh has been a voice artist
since 1969. Under the proprietorship of Sound & Vision & M.A. Production,
Leelaji has directed dubbing of over 150 films and serials many of which are
Oscar award winning films, in various languages with special emphasis on Hindi,
Bengali and English. He has supervised mixing of all Hollywood dubbed films in
Dolby SR & Dolby Digital formats at Prasad Labs., Chennai, & Empire Studio,
Mumbai and for the film "Matrix" ( Hindi dubbed) at Atlabs Australia. Leelaji
has designed and scripted for Indian Festivals in the Reunion Islands. She has
also scripted and directed over thousand musical radio programmes & documentary
films.
SUBTITLING: Leelaji has carried out subtitling work for several NFDC Films.
WORK ABROAD: Leelaji has worked in London for four years as Tourism Officer for
promotion of Tourism. She has organised several Indian shows, talks, slide
shows/films all over U.K. and Ireland between 1982 - '86. She has performed all
over Europe, United States, Canada between 1987 - '91. She has represented India
for Expo'92 in Servile, Spain for three months (for promotion of Tourism &
Culture). She has also worked with Atlab, Australia for final mixing & printing
of Hindi dubbed film "The Matrix in Dolby Digital and Dolby SR format.
AWARDS&PRESS: Leela Roy Ghosh has won several Awards and wide critical acclaim
from the Press & Television in India and abroad for music and for dubbing for
U.K., U.S.A., Sony, Mumbai and Sagar Arts, Mumbai. The Asian Times, London has
commended her as "The Nightingale of India". The film "JUMANJI & "RUSH HOUR"
,"EAST IS EAST" dubbed into Hindi for Columbia Tristar received rave reviews
from the press of India, Bangladesh and the Gulf for its scripting and dubbing.
The "MASK" received 1999's best dubbed programme by RAPA - India.
T.V.SERIALS & DOCUMENTARIES: Leelaji has made pilot episodes called "ANKHEN" for
Ramanand Sagar's Sagar Arts which is already approved. She has made a
documentary called "KOSHISH" on deaf & dumb painters of Orissa. She has also
directed 12 episodes for ETV Channel, titled "Bollywoode Bengali" on Music
Legends of India recently. At the moment she is engaged in compiling series of
programmes for biographical works on Life & Times of "Ramanand Sagar" to be
released on DVDs and CDs.
